Come join the fun this weekend at the SC Jazz Festival!
Saturday kicks off with a Bebop parade at 11:00am at Wesley United Methodist Church on Greene Street and proceeds down Kershaw and Second Streets, ending at Centennial Park. Jump in anywhere on the parade route with your bike, trike, golf cart or dancing shoes! The Fort Jackson Army Jazz Band will lead participants in this “second line” jazz parade, sponsored by Reid’s Funeral Home. All ages welcomed!
Jazz continues at Centennial Park with the Beaufort High School “Voices” and the Marlboro School of Discovery Jazz Band. Enjoy some cake in celebration of jazz great and Cheraw native Dizzy Gillespie’s birthday. Free musical performances and jazz dance with Miss Nikki’s School of Dance complete the morning and afternoon until 5:15pm. Bring your lawn chair or blankets and groove on jazz music by Jim Conn & Wilbert Motley, A New Creation, Fort Jackson Army Band and Ron Baxter. Presented by Highland Industries, Inc.

Stop by the Town Green area from 12:00 noon until 4:00pm and Strike a Pose with Dizzy, play Bean Bag & Bebop, and get artsy with the Cheraw Arts Commission. Have your face painted by the Greater Cheraw Chamber of Commerce. Watch teams as they create masterpieces on the sidewalk with the Italian Madonnari Chalk Competition. The event features teams of adults and children. Sponsors are: Doodlebugs, Mary’s Restaurant, Market St. Frame Shop & Art Gallery, Lewis Realty, Oyster Bar, Company’s Comin’, Merle Norman, River’s Edge Restaurant, Palmetto OB-GYN, and Marsh Industrial, Inc.
