On Dec. 12th, Carolina Home Educators Family Support (CHEFS) held its annual Christmas Party. Local homeschoolers gathered with those from the surrounding counties at the Cheraw Police Dept. Conference Room to welcome the teens from New Hope Ranch Home for Girls as their special guests in an afternoon filled with crafts, games and refreshments.

Ethel Wynn, owner of Faith Ceramics in Chesterfield and fellow homeschooler, provided ceramic ornaments for the students to paint as one of the many fun activities. Mr. Ben Pederson, a Gideon Bible representative, presented small New Testament Bibles as well as handmade crosses to each of the students. “This New Testament is your own personal love letter from God," he encouraged.

NHR, located in Society Hill, is a Christian ministry dedicated to providing a home for girls disjoined from their families. As part of a broader Community Involvement project, CHEFS students were encouraged to contribute to the NHR girls' Christmas. ”Each year, CHEFS chooses an opportunity to help our community as well as teach our children the importance of civic and moral responsibility," said Anne Fyans, CHEFS Chairperson.
