World Vision Party
by Carmen & Mitch Hadinger - Tuesday, 7 September 2010, 08:16 PM
I am hosting a World Vision party on Sat., Sept. 25th at 6:30pm. It will be in the fellowship hall at Roberdel Baptist Church, 1118 Richmond Rd.,Rockingham, NC 28379.

Who is invited?
All ages! It's for children-adults.

What is World Vision?
It is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

Why have a party?
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute." (Proverbs 31:8)

(I wanted to invite all the home school families. My plan is to have a scavenger hunt for families to find out answers to their questions on their sheets by going around different stations we'll have set up. In doing so, hopefully, you'll learn more about different countries, learn the needs around the world, and see how we can help. Every little bit helps. We'll also watch a 15 min. video on what child sponsorship is all about.

If you have any questions, please email me.
Hope to see you there!

Thanks,
Carmen Hadinger

Ovis Hill Farm Homeschool Day
by Admin User - Wednesday, 5 May 2010, 09:22 PM

Ovis Hill Farm
Homeschool Day
Ovis Hill Farm is a local sheep farm located in Timmonsville, SC. We have approximately 500 sheep. All tours focus on the importance of farms in our society, and the process of converting raw wool into usable fabrics. While at the farm, students will have an opportunity to feed baby lambs, make butter, and take a wagon ride. The wagon ride visits all the animals on the farm stopping for a sheep-herding demonstration with the farm Border collie. We will also have a special treat available for your viewing that day. The shearer will be shearing sheep that Friday and Saturday barring any unforeseen farming problems. You will be amazed at the speed and skill demonstrated.
When: Friday, May 28, 2010
Time: 10:00 am to 12:00pm
Cost: $6.00 per person up to $24 per family to be paid at the farm the day of your trip. We accept cash, debit or credit cards.
Optional Activities: Gourd painting $5 per person
Wool bracelet making $1 per person
You must pre-register for these optional activities to be conducted at the end of the tour.
We have a covered picnic shelter if you desire to bring a picnic lunch.  We will not have any other lunch food to sell.  The farm has a store where we sell product from our farm as well as other local South Carolina farmers.
To register contact: Heather Perry
You can visit our web site at ovishillfarm.com for directions.

Homeschoolers Invited on Cruise to Celebrate
by Admin User - Monday, 9 November 2009, 01:29 PM

Homeschoolers Invited on Celebration Cruise

The Graham family would like to invite fellow homeschooling families to join them in May for a Celebration Cruise. They are celebrating not only the graduation of their son Jonathan, but homeschooling at large. What a wonderful way of life! This cruise is open to all homeschoolers, their friends, and family. Feel free to invite everyone to join on this celebration cruise.

Phillip & Wendy Graham have homeschooled their children from birth. They have also been very active in the homeschool community at large.

Wendy has worked with several different homeschool cooperatives and support groups while homeschooling. In addition she has been board member and is now the new director of CHASE SC (Christian Homeschoolers Association of South Eastern South Carolina.) Phillip, a veterinarian, loves to teach. He allows students interested in veterinary medicine to “shadow” at the clinic. He also hosts field trips to the clinic for all students to see a part of veterinary medicine they may not get to see.

For graduation, their oldest son, Jonathan asked if they could book a cruise this May to celebrate this major accomplishment. Since homeschooling is such an integral part of their lives, the Graham family decided it only made sense to book a group cruise and invite all homeschoolers to celebrate their homeschool year as well!

They plan to cruise on Carnival Fantasy from Charleston to the Bahamas May 30 to June 5, 2009. The ship will visit Nassau, Freeport, and Key West. On the ship there will be all kinds of food, plus miniature golf, swimming pools, waterworks fun park with a water-slide, Camp Carnival for children, Circle C and Club O2 for teens, an adults-only retreat and much more.

There is only a $25 per person deposit required to hold a place. A second payment of $250 is due December 29 and the final payment is due March 9. All money is 100% refundable through March 8.

Travel arrangements will be made through GloriousTravels.net , a travel company started by the Graham family as a way to have fun and earn a little money on the side.

For more information, you can email GloriousTravels@gmail.com or call (843) 879-8785. They will gladly call you back if this is a long distance charge or include your phone number in an email. And remember, they are still home educating their children so you may have to leave a message.
